HYDERABAD: Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy has sought to allay fears expressed in some quarters that the budget allocation for the agriculture sector will be cut due to shortage of funds.
He also denied the charge that the expenditure on various schemes being implemented for farmers had already come down. Mr. Reddy told reporters here on Friday that the Government had allocated a whopping Rs. 22,647 crore for agriculture and allied sectors in the 2007-08 budget as against Rs. 4,230 crore earmarked by the TDP regime during 2003-04.
He said if a particular scheme did not get funds, it might be due to procedural delays and not because of fund crunch.
