Minister inaugurates a three-day international symposium of women entrepreneurs First industrial estate in the country for women entrepreneurs was promoted in Ranga Reddy

HYDERABAD: The State Government is planning to establish industrial estates exclusively for women entrepreneurs in every district, according to Major Industries Minister J. Geeta Reddy. “Talks are on with officials of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation to work out modalities to set up such industrial estates with complete infrastructure facilities,” she said here on Friday. The Minister was inaugurating a three-day international symposium of women entrepreneurs on - ‘Sustainability and competitiveness’, jointly organised by the Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of AP (ALEAP) and SAARC Chamber of Women Entrepreneur Council (SCWEC). The first industrial estate in the country for lady entrepreneurs was promoted in Ranga Reddy district in an area of 50 acres. ALEAP, which promoted the estate, had also developed another near Nunna in Vijayawada. Special incentives
Mrs. Geetha Reddy stated that the Government’s industrial investment promotion policy 2005-10 provided special incentives for women in areas like infrastructure at their doorstep, VAT and stamp duty reimbursement and power subsidy. Minister for SSI and KVIB Gollapalli Surya Rao explained the various Central and State schemes for entrepreneurs, particularly women. President of SCWEC Dasho Ugen Tsechup Dorji said the regional and areas committees would encourage more women to turn entrepreneurs and empower themselves. Chandra Pal, Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, said skill development is a key to the success of any entrepreneur. He laid emphasis on empowerment of women in rural areas. Sheela Bhide, Chairperson and Managing Director, India Trade Promotion Organisation, V. L. Indira Dutt, SCWEC chairperson, and K. Rama Devi, ALEAP president, spoke.
