Kaginele Development Authority set up

Bangalore: The State Government has formed the Kaginele Development Authority, headed by the Chief Minister, to develop heritage sites linked to the poet Kanakadasa.
The authority has been named after Kaginele, as this village in Haveri district was the place where the sant poet was active.
Among other things, the authority intends to develop Kaginele into a cultural, pilgrimage and international tourism centre, Water Resources Minister K.S. Eshwarappa and Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur told presspersons here on Thursday.
The authority, which held its first meeting on August 24, has 25 members, including Ministers, Secretaries to various departments, the local MP and legislators, the Haveri Zilla Panchayat president and the Deputy Commissioner of Haveri. Five others have been made nominated members.
The authority will develop the following places: Kaginele; Bada, which is the birthplace of Kanakadasa; Ingalagondhi; Dasanakoppa; Kummuru; and Kadaramandalagi.
