Walking free: Actor Salman Khan comes out of the Jodhpur Central Jail on Friday. The actor was granted bail by the Rajasthan High Court in the chinkara poaching case.
JAIPUR: Actor Salman Khan was on Friday released from the Jodhpur Central Jail on bail after six nights in confinement in the chinkara poaching case. The Rajasthan High Court admitted his revision petition against the award of five-year imprisonment. Justice H.R. Panwar granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs.1 lakh and two sureties for Rs. 50,000 each. Salman will have to appear in person when the court takes up the revision petition on October 24. The actor came out of the jail around 6 p.m. waving to crowds waiting outside. In the jail he spent most of his time reading and sketching. The actor, along with Katrina Kaif, his sisters Alvira and Arpita, took a chartered flight to Mumbai. His scriptwriter-father Saleem Khan and mother Salma left earlier by a regular flight at 6 p.m. His family members did not visit the court premises during the day. The day’s hearing, for about three hours, was held in the principal seat of the High Court in Jodhpur on the last working day of the month despite a protest by local lawyers against the establishment of a Jaipur Bench of the High Court. For, Salman’s lawyers were from Delhi and Mumbai. A local lawyer assisted them.
