Sonal Chawla wins gold in 800 metres

NEW DELHI: Sonal Chawla of Sai Memorial Girls School, Geeta Colony, won the 800m gold in the girls’ under-16 category stopping the clock at 2 minutes 24.48 seconds, in the 67th Delhi State athletics championship at the Nehru Stadium here on Friday.

Sonal’s time was better than that of the winners in the girls’ under-20 and under-18 categories.

Men:

100m: Kadar Khan 10.74s. 800m: Manoj Kumar 1:57.26. 10000m: Satpal Singh 33:19.7s. High jump: Kamlesh Kumar 1.90m. Discus: Harpreet Singh 50.73m.

Boys: U-20: 100m: Rahul Kasana 11.23s. 800m: Ashish Kumar 2:00.16s. Discus: Sumit Kumar 45.84m.

U-18: 100m: Ayush Rana 11.50s. 800m: Sahil Mohindra 1:57.79. High jump: Rohit Kumar 1.81m. Shot put: Sanjeev Rathi 17.74m. Javelin: Ankit Singh 57.84m.

U-16: 100m: Ashwani 11.54s. 800m: Ravi Kumar 2:01.65s. High jump: Jagbir Singh 1.63m. Shot put: Vijay Singh 13.68m.

Women:

100m: Pavneet Kaur 12.57s. 800m: Sunita 2:14.0s. 10000m: Geeta 37:12.1s. Discus: Monika Joon 44.72m.

Girls: U-20: 100m: Babita 13.60s. 800m: Pushpa Lakra 2:43.20s. Discus: Priyanka Bhanot 44.50m (NMR).

U-18: 100m: Sumit Kumar 13.33s. 800m: Alka Kaur 2:29.45s. Discus: Ankita Julka 41.16m. Hammer throw: Prerna Singh 22.60m.

U-16: 100m: Mansi Jain 13.83s. 800m: Sonal Chawla 2:24.48s. Discus: Satya Rai 21.30m.
