Meenu, Niji triumph

KOZHIKODE: Meenu Rajendran of Thiruvananthapuram won the State junior girls’ chess championship ere on Friday.

A. Niji of Kozhikode emerged as the champion in the Sub-junior girls’ event, which was also held at the same venue.

The standings: Junior: 1-2. Meenu Rajendran (Tvm) and A. Neenu (Kzde), 3.5/4; 3. Teenu Thomas 3 (Ekm); 4-5. Niji (Kzde) and C.P. Athira (Kzde), 2.5. Sub-junior: 1-5. A. Niji (Kzde), Anjana Krishna (Tvm), C.P. Athira (Kzde), Teenu Thomas (Ekm) and Alka Raj (Ekm), 4/5.
