Accenture, Morgan Stanley in the lead

K.C. Vijaya Kumar

Cha-Am (Thailand): After two gruelling days that tested muscle and mettle, Accenture and Morgan Stanley led the charts in the Microsoft Corporate Challenge sports event here on Friday.

The two teams were level at the top, clocking 111 minutes each. Breathing down their necks were Bennett and Coleman (113m) and Microsoft (115m).

Three stages have concluded and the championship will enter its final phase here on Saturday.

The first stage coupled scrabble with sprints as the participants were forced to run hard in search of word clues that were strewn all over the Palace gardens.

Morgan Stanley topped the inaugural stage but in stage two, Standard Chartered Bank held the whiphand, finishing the event in 81 minutes.

Stage two involved trekking, running and the use of analytical skills as the participants were required to form a new circuit on the lines of a cable connection. Speed and accuracy were tested during this course. The day’s second session proved to be an exhaustive one for the teams as stage three involved running, cycling and kayaking as the players had to split between the three segments in pursuit of clues as elusive as one that was named the Bermuda Triangle.

The stage tested the players’ endurance levels, their multi-tasking skills and their ability to think under pressure.

The three-hour long session, held near a lake belt, left the players a tired lot and most failed to complete the required assignments before reverting to the finish line. The cumulative results of stage three will be announced on Saturday morning, followed by the final two sessions. At the end of a long day that started at 7 a.m., most players were eager to rush for a massage to loosen their sore muscles that will come into play again on the morrow.
