Tambaram: Canara Bank on Friday installed an automated teller machine (ATM) at Chromepet railway station. The ATM has facilities for booking train tickets through the Internet, but it will be operational only after some time when the software and equipment are in place. This is the second such ATM of Canara Bank at a railway station. The first is at Chennai Beach station.
The bank will be installing 21 ATMs in railway stations in Chennai and Tiruchi, officials said. The ATM at the Chromepet railway station is Canara Bank’s 150th facility in the Chennai circle.
D.L. Rawal, executive director of the bank, and S.K. Gupta, additional divisional railway manager, Chennai, were present on the occasion.
Officials of the bank said that the booking of tickets through the Internet kiosk of the ATM would not disturb the drawing of cash.
