KOCHI: District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, on Friday, said the survey of 65 acres of land identified to set up an oceanarium on the Puthuvype Island has been completed. The Centrally-aided project will be implemented by the Fisheries Department. Mr. Hanish said the Rs.1.75 crore-‘Thriveni Sangamam’ project at Muvattupuzha was yet to get under way as it had not obtained clearance from the Tourism Department. The Collector said the project had been denied clearance on environmental grounds. The project, if implemented, is expected to put Muvattupuzha on the State’s tourism map. The project plan, drawn up by the District Tourism Promotion Council, envisages a watchtower that will provide a panoramic view of the merging point of three rivers — the Thodupuzhayar, the Kaliyar and the Kothayar. Three hanging bridges connecting three islands has been planned. Tourism projects
Mr. Hanish said many other tourism projects at Aluva, Paravur and Ezhattumukam, conceived along with the ‘Thriveni Sangamam’ project, were either completed or nearing completion.
