Grievance meet held for pensioners

NAGAPATTINAM: The grievances of nearly 200 pensioners were redressed at a special grievance meeting convened by Tenkasi S. Jawahar, Collector, here on Wednesday. The meeting was held after a gap of three months. S. Rajasekaran, Director of Pensions, R. Gnanasekaran, District Revenue Officer, and officials from various departments were present.

The Collector said that 200 petitions — seeking pension, retirement benefits, delay in sanction of allowances, etc — were received.

After scrutiny, orders were issued for granting pension to 94 persons. Several other grievances, including granting of retirement benefits to 106 pensioners, were redressed at the meeting. The Nagapattinam District Pensioners’ Association thanked the Collector for taking swift action on petitions submitted by the petitioners.
