TARAPUR: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday complimented the country’s nuclear scientists and engineers for their outstanding efforts and achievements in the face of adverse circumstances and challenges. He had special words of praise for Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar. “Our country is fortunate to have a person of the eminence and distinction of Dr. Kakodkar to guide the development of the nuclear programme,” Dr. Singh said at a function here,. While welcoming the gathering that included Maharashtra Governor S.M. Krishna, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan, Dr. Kakodkar said Nuclear Power Corporation of India was modifying the design of the 540 MWe reactor to scale it up to 700 MWe. NPCIL Chairman and Managing Director S.K. Jain proposed a vote of thanks.
