Nizam College regains title

HYDERABAD: Nizam College won the Osmania University inter-collegiate football tournament, for the Amjad Ali Khan rolling Trophy, after a gap of 10 years, defeating Bhavan’s Vivekananda College 2-1 in the final at Osmania Grounds here.

Striker Muhammed put Nizam ahead in the 10th minute of the first half with a fine run down the centre.

Within minutes, Bhavan’s scored the equaliser through Christopher.

In the second session, winger Saleh netted the match-winner for Nizam College.

State Bank of Hyderabad scored a 4-0 win over Shastri Soccer Club in the SAAP Premier League prize money football tournament at the Gymkhana Grounds here.

Striker Khaiser Ali latched on to a neat pass from Zaki in the 21st minute to find the target.

Within 10 minutes, midfielder Vimal essayed a long-ranger, taking the custodian completely by surprise. Khaiser Ali was in the scoring act again in the 32nd minute to give SBH a 3-0 lead at the break.

On resumption, Bankmen continued to dominate and scored the fourth goal through Prakash who headed a corner kick by Zaki in the 65th minute to complete the tally for the winner.

Fateh Maidan Club will organise the master pairs bridge event on September 2 from 10 a.m. at its premises.
