‘Grant Bangalore A-I city status’

BANGALORE: The LIC Employees’ Union, Bangalore Division and the Coordinating Committee of Central Government Employees and Workers, Karnataka, have urged the Union Government to notify Bangalore as a metro city and grant it A-I city status. The demand comes in the light of the decision of the Union Cabinet to declare Hyderabad an A-I city for house rent allowance.

In separate press releases, the union and the committee said the Union Cabinet’s decision was perplexing and unreasonable as it had ignored granting similar status to Bangalore, whose population was more than Hyderabad’s.
