THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: N. Chellappan Pillai, freedom fighter and a compatriot of K.C.S. Mani, who had hacked Sir C.P. Ramaswamy Iyer at the height of the movement for free Travancore, died here on Saturday. He was 90. Chellappan Pillai, who was also one of the founder leaders of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and United Trade Union Congress (UTUC) in Kerala, had accompanied Mani on his mission to attack Ramaswamy Iyer. He served for long as Travancore Rubber Factory Workers’ Union secretary. RSP general secretary K. Pankajakshan and party State secretary T.J. Chandrachoodan offered their last respects to Chellappan Pillai at his residence. — Special Correspondent
