Action against tax evaders

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Local Self-Government Paloli Mohammed Kutty has directed local bodies to take action, including prosecution measures, against those who are not paying professional tax. The Minister said here on Saturday that he was issuing such a direction as there were lapses in the collection of professional tax. The Comptroller and Auditor General too had pointed out in his last year’s report. The Minister said that many, including gazetted officers, were not paying professional tax. — Special Correspondent
