Sara Thomas given royalty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Cooperation and Devaswom G Sudhakaran presented on Friday the royalty amount to writer Sara Thomas for her books published by Writers’ Cooperative Society.

The Minister presented Rs. 1,62,529 to Ms Thomas as royalty arrears at a function held at her residence here. Out of this Ms Thomas donated Rs. 38,529 to the revival fund of the Society.

The Minister said that the Writers’ Cooperative was to disburse Rs 2.18 crore as royalty for books sold by it. The Government was planning to complete the disbursal of arrears by September 15. Pointing out that most of her books were published by the Society, Ms. Thomas said when there was a dispute on royalty payment many had persuaded her to go for litigation.
