VISAKHAPATNAM: the Bharat Heavy Plate and Vesssels (BHPV) on Saturday handed over the first consignment of pipes to Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) as part of a Rs.24.15-crore contract.
The contract for sunken pipes measuring up to five and half kilometres has to be delivered in 34 weeks for dredging operations in Paradip and Haldia ports. With this order, BHPV has entered into market for offshore piping for dredging as well as oil and gas exploration project.
The company executed the first order comprising 38 number pipes each 12 metres long and 900 mm dia two months in advance. At a function held at BHPV, its Managing Director Om Prakash handed over the first consignment to DCI Chairman and Managing Director A.K. Dhar.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Dhar said BHPV had excellent facilities to cater to the needs of any industry and promised that DCI would place more orders on the company. The plan for take-over BHPV by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited is in advance stage.
