VISAKHAPATNAM: An exhibition of photographs, newspaper clippings and cartoons depicting the fallacy of the nuclear deal with the United States was organised by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) at Jagadamba junction here on Saturday. It was inaugurated by former Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University K.V. Ramana. The makeshift tent attracted passer-by. A pedestrian asked journalists standing outside the tent as to what it was. An old woman watched the blown up pictures and was engrossed in reading captions with interest. Visitors seemed to draw their own conclusions. CITU President Jyothiswara Rao, city unit General Secretary Y. Raju, Working Women’s Coordination Committee member P. Mani, CITU leader K. Lokanadham and Naval Dockyard Employees Association former Vice-Chairman R. Gangu Naidu were present. Earlier, MLC MVS Sarma felt that the US was bent on making India sign the nuclear agreement as it foresees China emerging as a major threat by 2020. Even the supply of uranium for peaceful purposes could be stopped, if the US President was against it. The agreement, however, does not give any such powers to the Indian Parliament. Mr. Sarma said already Monsanto and Walmart have signed agreements with various agricultural universities in India for joint research projects.
