Rs. 300 cr. sanctioned for farm workers

CUDDALORE: The State Government has sanctioned Rs. 300 crore in two financial years (2006-08) for the welfare of farm labourers, Revenue Minister and Board chairman I. Periasami has said. Of the 1.60 crore workers registered with the Agricultural Labourers’ Welfare Board, 78 lakh workers had got identity cards, he said, addressing the ninth State conference of the Communist Party of India-affiliated Tamil Maanila Vivasaya Thozhilalar Sangham here on Saturday.
