Searches lead to recovery of stolen property

HYDERABAD: Nearly 30 kilograms of ‘Ganja’, a stolen Skoda car and an unaccounted sum of Rs. 55.8 lakh were seized by city police during the searches undertaken after the twin blasts in city.

While 30 kgs of ‘Ganja’ kept in suitcases was seized during vehicle checking at Gowliguda on Tuesday last, a Skoda car stolen from Golconda was traced at Bowenpally two days later, a press release said.

On Friday, Rs. 55.8 lakh being carried by two workers of a gold merchant was seized by the police and handed over to Income Tax officials for further action.

Meanwhile, Gopalapuram police recovered stolen gold ornaments weighing 21 tolas and Rs. 1 lakh with the arrest of two persons. The cash was recovered from K. Nagi Reddy, who allegedly used to pick pockets of passengers travelling in RTC buses. The jewellery was recovered based on the confession of the second arrested Mohd. Suleman, an ex-convict.
