HYDERABAD: How did Bangladeshi Ridwan Gazi secure ration card, driving licence and PAN card in Hyderabad? After arresting a Bangladeshi woman, Rafsanjani, 23, on the charge of moving without valid documents, the city police raided the house she was living in at Bahadurpura and found some documents in the name of Gazi. Initially, they thought the seized papers were fake and irrelevant for their investigation. But when Rafsanjani admitted that he was her brother, the police got tense as the Bangladeshi link cropped up in most of the terrorist activities recently reported in Hyderabad, including the twin blasts. Police inquiries revealed that Gazi had been living in Hyderabad for the past eight years. He speaks Urdu fluently, but follows and communicates in Telugu with some difficulty. “From what we gathered through the neighbours and owner of the house, Gazi speaks like at a typical Hyderabadi,” a police officer said. Police felt that learning Urdu or changing accent after being in Hyderabad for so many years did not surprise the police but the fact that he managed to secure even a ration card in his name bewildered them more. Inquiries revealed the ration card, the PAN card and the driving licence were genuine and not fabricated. “He used different addresses for different cards. We’re trying to find out what documents he submitted and how the officials concerned issued these valuable papers,” the investigators said. Search for RDX
Meanwhile, the revelation by Samir, alleged agent of Laskhar-e-Taiba, that Shahed smuggled eight to 10 kg of RDX from Bangladesh to the city through him is also keeping the police on the edge.
