To transform itself into learning institution Plan to develop academy into virtual campus
HYDERABAD: The National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Rajendranagar, near here, a premier constituent of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, plans to transform itself into learning institution, by widening its horizon. Disclosing this at a press conference here on Friday, on the eve of its foundation day, NAARM Director S. M. Ilyas said proposals were being prepared to offer diploma, post-graduate, Ph.D and post-doctoral courses, as was being done by IIM. It would be offering academic programmes in association with reputed national and international organisations. Efforts were also on to develop the academy into a virtual campus in electronic mode for teaching-learning and research management. It would be organising programme off the campus in the State agricultural universities and State-level organisations with the aim of putting in place researchers and teachers to work in far flung areas. Common interest
Dr. Ilyas disclosed that the academy planned to build public-private partnerships in areas of common interest with individuals and institutions. This linkage would facilitate sharing of experience, expertise and responsibilities. NAARM would also liaise with institutions like Krishi Vigyan Kendras, agricultural technology information centres as well as agricultural universities to enable them to develop a roadmap for making every potential village a knowledge centre in well-defined agro-ecological zones.
