Shiv Sena threatens stir

Special Correspondent

MUMBAI: Opposing implementation of the Sachar Committee report, Shiv Sena MPs led by executive president Uddhav Thackeray will soon meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The party said the “hurried implementation” of the report was a clear indication that it was aimed at vote grabbing. The government would face an agitation if it did not stop implementing the report immediately, the Sena said.

The former Lok Sabha Speaker and party leader, Manohar Joshi, told reporters here on Saturday that the Sachar recommendations were already being implemented even though there was no discussion on the report in Parliament. The Sena had opposed the report since it first came out and party leaders had been demanding a discussion in Parliament.
