BEAUTIFUL: Vinayaga idols on display in Tiruchi. —
TIRUCHI: Come ‘Vinayaka Chathurthi,’ and the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation, Poompuhar, comes out with a variety of idols of Lord Ganapathy made of different materials. A special, 14-day exhibition-cum-sale of Ganapathy idols currently under way at the Poompuhar showroom at Singarathoppe in the city showcases many new additions. Idols made of paper and between one and six feet height are the major attraction at the exhibition which was inaugurated on Saturday by Srirangam Bharata Natyalaya Director Revathy Muthusamy. Intricately designed panchaloha idols of Lord Ganapathy, and majestic forms in sandalwood and white metal are among the exhibits. The favourites are Sri Vellerukku Vinayakar and the banners of Lord Ganapathy in ‘nooka’ wood.
