VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, has announced a credit flow of Rs.1,100.62 crore to the priority sector for 2007-08.
Releasing the annual credit plan here on Saturday, Mr. Chandrasekaran said that Rs.242.48 crore has been proposed for short-term agriculture loan and Rs.126 crore for mid-term farm loans. Besides, Rs.473.84 crore has been earmarked for advances to non-farm activities and Rs.258.30 crore for loans to the service sector.
A total of 171 self-help groups for women would get Rs.17.10 lakh revolving fund and another 23 groups would get Rs.76.50 lakh loans for economic development under the Golden Jubilee Rural Employment Scheme.
The district administration has fixed a target of giving loans to 925 persons under the Prime Minister’s Self Employment Scheme. Out of the Rs.59 lakh margin money for rural employment scheme, so far Rs.27.58 lakh has been disbursed for 11 projects. The banks have extended a loan of Rs.98.02 lakh for these projects, he said.
Loans to farmers
Loans to the extent of Rs.771.56 lakh have been given to 3,752 farmers under the Kisan Credit Card Scheme. The banks have so far given Rs.30.34 lakh loans to 144 persons for buying cows.
The Indian Overseas Bank Senior Regional Manager, K. Venugopal, received the first copy of the annual credit plan. The Project Officer, DRDA, Gladston Pushaparaj and the Lead Bank Manager, G.A. Sukumar, were among those who were present.
