BANGALORE: The Ramamurthynagar police have unravelled the mystery surrounding the murder of G. Dinesh (28), owner of a stone crushing unit. Dinesh was hacked to death on Bommasandra Road in Hebbugodi police station limits in July 2005. The police on Saturday said Dinesh’s stepmother Lakshmi (48) and her elder daughter Deepa (26) had got him murdered. The two had hired a gang for Rs. 1.85 lakh to eliminate him to usurp his property. The police have arrested Lakshmi, Deepa, and three of the alleged killers, M. Jagadish Prasad (31), G. Sendil Kumar (24) and Anthony Swamy (30). The police said that on Thursday they arrested Jagadish and Sendil for their suspected involvement in a robbery. During interrogation, the duo confessed to Dinesh’s murder. According to the police, Dinesh was the only son of K.Y. Guruva Reddy, a rich landlord and businessman from Thirupalya village. Reddy has two wives, Anasuya and Lakshmi. Dinesh was Anasuya’s son. As Lakshmi had no sons, she feared that her husband’s entire property would go to Dinesh. To ensure that her daughters Deepa and Pavithra got the property, Lakshmi and Deepa hatched a plan to get Dinesh murdered, the police said. They paid Rs. 1 lakh to Jagadish to kill Dinesh. After the murder, Lakshmi and Deepa paid Rs. 85,000 to Jagadish, the police said.
