It is shocking to note that a lady teacher in Kadapa ended her life as she was unable to bear with the persistent blackmail by her students. The two students reportedly blackmailed the teacher that they would make pubic her obscene photographs they had taken secretly. While the students are in their teens, the teacher was a mother of two. This abhorrent incident leaves an indelible blot on the most sacred teacher-student relationship. The two students should be punished severely to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. I. Subhash Samuel Ulavapadu Not in students’ interest
I have come to know through the media that that the State government proposes to do away with the common examination for students of Standard VII. Unfortunately, this decision will not help students and teachers as well. According to child psychologists, examinations will make children read. In the absence of reading, one cannot expect quality education. Since quality has become a buzzword in the present-day society, the proposed decision will be quite contrary to it. At present, our government schools are in such a condition that internal examination system alone cannot help students improve their knowledge. The government should reconsider the decision. Y.P. Reddy Tiruvuru ACB doing a laudable job
The Anti-Corruption Bureau is doing well in detecting bribery cases and unearthing disproportionate assets from corrupt employees of various government departments. However, it is also needed not to give posting orders to employees charged with indulging in corruption to strengthen the deeds of the ACB. Further, installation of “don’t offer bribe” boards in all government offices is the need of the hour. B.V. Subrahmanya Sastry Bapatla BJP bandh unwarranted
The bandh enforced by the BJP in protest against the twin bomb blasts in Hyderabad is unwarranted. At a time when Hyderabadis passed through a critical phase due to the terrorist activity, the bandh observed by the BJP created more problems to the civilians. Bandh is not a proper way to express solidarity with the victims and others, as the entire State became dumb with these unexpected blasts. Instead of extending a helping hand to the government to tide over the situation, the BJP has further aggravated the problem. Addanki Srinivasa Rao Ongole
