NEW DELHI: Terming the recent statements on the India-U.S. nuclear deal by United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as “indiscrete”, senior Communist Party of India leader Gurudas Dasgupta told a press conference on Sunday that the intention behind such “superficial” comments was to win public support for the deal. The clean chit given by Ms. Gandhi to Dr. Singh was “unreasonable”, Mr. Dasgupta said. PTI reports: The composition of the committee to allay Left concerns over the deal is likely to be announced on Monday. Highly-placed sources said besides leaders of the Left parties, it is likely to be headed by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, and comprise leaders of the Congress and other UPA parties.
