Development projects to be launched in Gundlupet

CHAMARAJANAGAR: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will visit Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagar district on September 3 to initiate development projects worth Rs. 70 crore, Gundlupet MLA and Minister for Kannada and Culture H.S. Mahadev Prasad has said.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, he said that Mr. Kumaraswamy would reach Gundlupet by helicopter.

He will lay foundation stones for an underground drainage system, Kabini drinking water supply scheme, post-matric hostel for Backward Classes post-matric boys, police stations at Gundlupet and Terakanambi, first-grade college at Gundlupet town, high school buildings at Nitre, Hundipura and Gundlupet, and pre-university college building at Gundlupet, Kabballi, Terakanambi and Begur.

Mr. Prasad said the Chief Minister would also launch work on the Mini Vidhana Soudha and a power station in Hangala and a fire station building in Gundlupet.

Mr. Prasad said that the “zilla utsav,” which would mark the completion of ten years of formation of Chamarajanagar district, would be held on September 8 and 9 at the Chamarajanagar district centre.

Seminars and folk art performances will be part of the celebrations.

The district administration is planning to release a souvenir to mark the occasion.

To a question, Mr. Prasad said that the Vishwa Kannada Sammelan would be held in Belgaum in November.

He denied reports that the Government had withdrawn the funds allocated for this.
