Karimnagar district LIC sets milestone

8,700 policies enrolled this year


Target of 4-lakh policies this year

Rs. 39 crore paid as death claims


KARIMNAGAR: The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) Karimnagar division has set a milestone in the country by emerging as number one division with the highest number of enrolment of Jeevan Madhur. The micro finance insurance policy, which is aimed for the benefit of women self-help group members and others.

Disclosing this to newsmen here on Saturday, LIC Karimnagar senior divisional manager C. Narasavadhani said that they had enrolled about 8,700 policies during this financial year and set a target of enrolling 46,000 policies by the end of this year. He said that this insurance policy was a boon to the women SHG members and other artisans, farm labourers and others eking out their livelihood by working in the villages.

He said that the Jeevan Madhur was most economical one as the premium costs only Rs. 25 per week and the sum assured was Rs 30,000 and Rs 5,000 minimum amount.

He said that the womenfolk were showing more interest in the insuring themselves with this policy.Giving details about the Karimnagar division activities, Mr. Narasavadhani said that they had decided to open two more satellite offices in Korutla and Jammikunta towns .

He said that they had one satellite office in Adilabad.

Targets set

During the financial year 2006-07, the LIC had made about 3.64 lakh policies and collected a total premium of Rs. 874.89 crore.

He said that during this financial they had set a target of making 4 lakh policies.

So far, the LIC had made about 1 lakh policies and collected Rs. 95 crore as first premium amount.
