VISAKHAPATNAM: About 50 sarvodaya workers came out with a plan of action at a training camp here on Sunday to educate the general public about Mahatma Gandhi’s principles. Organised by the Visakhaptnam unit of Andhra Pradesh Sarvodaya Mandal in association with the New Gandhian Studies Centre (AU), the workshop discussed among other things the Gandhian teachings and philosophy, globalisation and sarvodaya principles. Andhra University College of Arts principal J.V. Prabhakar Rao, who inaugurated the workshop, said that with rapid growth in the country, the number of problems had also increased manifold. In the wake of urbanisation, Gandhian principles such as non-violence, human values and gram swaraj were ignored though his teachings were relevant even today. He stressed the need for teaching the Gandhian principles to school students. The AU centre would conduct an essay-writing competition on September 23 for school and college students to spread Gandhi’s message.
