NEW DELHI: BJP president Rajnath Singh on Sunday asked the party’s various all-India cells to bridge the gap with professionals who have started maintaining a distance from political parties, which are facing a “serious crisis of credibility.” At a meeting here, he said the separation of professionals from the party was unfortunate as a representative government in a civilised society was incapable of functioning without people’s active participation. The BJP cells could act as a live contact in conveying the party’s message to people and sensitising the party to their problems and concerns, he said. Senior party leaders, including M. Venkaiah Naidu, Murli Manohar Joshi, Bal Apte, Ramlal, Gopinath Munde, Vijay Goel, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Prakash Javadkar were present. Mr. Naidu wanted the cells to educate, organise, and, if need be, take recourse to agitations to solve their problems. But caution should be taken to ensure that there was no confrontation with other sections of society. Dr. Joshi felt the cells could provide inputs to the party on crucial issues, and in the process, sharpen its responses to important issues.
