CHAMPIONS: The winners of the J.H. Tarapore State-ranking tournament with the chief guest.
CHENNAI: Vijay Sundar Prashanth clinched the men’s singles (State-ranking) and doubles titles in the J.H. Tarapore-TTC tennis tournament at the Tennis Training Centre courts, D.G. Vaishnav College, here on Sunday. Thirteen-year-old Mohit Mayur won his maiden AITA title (Talent Series) in the under-18 category with a 6-2, 7-6(0) victory over Prashanth. In the men’s singles final, Vijay routed Ajay Selvaraj in 59 minutes. In the last match of the day, Vijay, partnering Md. Fariz, overwhelmed Bharath Srinivasan and Navaneetha Kannan 6-0, 6-3 in the doubles summit clash. P. Haridas, Member, Managing Committee, DG Vaishnav College, gave away the prizes. The results (finals): Men (singles): Vijay Sundar Prashanth bt Ajai Selvaraj 6-0, 6-0; doubles: Vijay Sundar Prashanth & Md. Fariz bt Bharath Srinivasan & Navaneetha Kannan 6-0, 6-3. Boys (under-18): Mohit Mayur bt Prashanth 6-2, 7-6(0). Girls under-18: C. Lekha bt Preethi Srinivasan 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
