ERODE: The National Commission for Scheduled Castes has asked the Erode Collector and Superintendent of Police to inquire into allegations of sexual harassment against a Dalit girl. The request follows a complaint made to the Commission by the Social Awareness Society for Youth, an NGO working for Dalit rights. Case registered
In its complaint, the Society had said that the girl’s teacher had harassed her in the class. The girl is a Standard Nine student of the Government Higher Secondary School, Sesaiyampalayam, near Dharapuram. A case has also been registered in this connection at the Moolanur police station, following a complaint by the girl’s parents. The Commission has asked the Collector and the SP to submit within a month the report along with action taken and monetary relief, if any, paid to the victim.
