Civic body identifies 417 erring hotels, bars and commercial complexes Assures High Court of sealing 100 erring establishments within a month
Shutters down: Hotel Rajdoot in Lakdikapul on Monday after it was closed by GHMC officials for violation for rules.
HYDERABAD: The GHMC has finally started sealing the premises of hotels and lodges for inadequate parking provisions and lack of trade licences. On Monday night, its teams closed at least four hotels in both Hyderabad and Secunderabad when reports last came in. Among the noted ones are Hotel Rajdhoot in Lakdikapul, Plaza and Shama hotels in Secunderabad and Jessy Lodge in Himayatnagar. There was also a plan to close either or both of the upmarket Ohris hotels in Raj Bhavan road and Banjara Hills, but the task was yet to be completed. Move resisted
There was some resistance from Rajdhoot hotel management when a GHMC team went to close it, but the sealing process was done. The civic body had identified 417 hotels, bars, commercial complexes and others not having proper parking space and functioning from buildings meant for residences. Many did not have trade licences also since they did not conform to the stipulations including bulk garbage scheme laid down and cleared by the High Court for their functioning. GHMC had assured the HC of sealing 100 such erring establishments within a month. It had given more than a month’s time after issuing notices to all these trade establishments under the scanner to show alternative parking space or shut shop. Officials are planning to close five such shops each day to send a strong message. They have also found some glaring and obvious omissions in the list prepared by the field staff and it was being corrected.
