The City Police Commissioner has detained under Goonda’s Act Mohanraj (24), who has cases of robbery and waylaying against him in two police stations.
A press release from the city police said that Mohanraj had tried to rob Ganesh (30) at knifepoint on Najundapuram Road on May 4, this year. People rushed to help Ganesh when he raised an alarm. But, Mohanraj threw stones at them and threatened to harm them if they tried to nab him. He was, however, overpowered by them and handed over to the police.
He was then remanded to custody.
With other cases registered against him Ramanathpuram and Peelamedu police stations, the Commissioner ordered his detention under the Goonda’s Act on Monday.
