BHUBANESWAR: ‘Sangeetanjali’, rendering of old Oriya film songs by budding singers of the State, was presented at Jayadev Bhawan here on Sunday, much to the delight of connoisseurs.

Shubham, an event management group, and the Dil ki Awaz Cultural Forum collaborated in hosting the event that featured forum founder Biswaswaroop, Adyasha Das, Nazia Alam, Sanghamitra, Swapnapriya and Soumya, who sang several popular songs from films like ‘Arundhati’ and ‘Abhilash’.

Felicitations

Seven eminent personalities from the field of music were honoured on the occasion.

They were lyricist Narayan Prasad Singh, singers Pranab Patnaik, Sikandar Alam and Tansen Singh, music director Basudev Rath and J. Adeni.

“The programme launched in 2003 aims at reminding the new generation about the golden era of the Oriya film music.

We used to invite veteran singers to belt out popular numbers.

This time, we have invited young singers in an attempt to attract the new generation audience,” explained Shubham group director Bikram.
