VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Health Minister, K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, inaugurated a boxing training centre at the Government Higher Secondary School at Chatrareddiyapatti near here on Saturday.
The Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority has set up the district-level training centre at a cost of Rs. 1.50 lakh under the ‘Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam.’
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister urged the students to make the best use of the facility to bring laurels to the district.
Minister’s gesture
Mr. Ramachandran said that the local people had taken efforts to upgrade the school from high school to higher secondary school and had collected Rs. 1.50 lakh towards paying the deposit money. He promised to give the remaining Rs. 50,000 as his personal contribution.
Mr. Ramachandran announced that 16 additional classrooms, a computer centre, a laboratory and necessary equipment would be provided for the school. The District Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, presided over the meeting.
