Chinese impressed by Delhi’s greenery

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: While development of China has given India a lot to ponder about, Delhi’s greenery has deeply impressed the Secretary of Chongqing Municipal Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress Wang Yang who called on Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna at Raj Niwas here on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Mr. Wang -- who was accompanied by the Chinese Ambassador to India, Sun Yuxi, and other members of the delegation -- said the greenery in Delhi had left an indelible impression on him and he was also impressed by the tremendous progress made by the country.

Mr. Wang, on his first visit to India, conveyed that the main purpose of the delegation’s visit was to promote better understanding and promote economic and trade relationship between India and China.

He said that although his visit was short he was hopeful that it would help in establishing permanent ties between the industry and trade of Chongqing and Delhi.

The main areas of interest for the Chinese in India are manufacturing activities, software and information technology.
