Forms a platform for interaction between students and teachers Teachers can give further details and deal with topics not covered in class
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The students and teachers of PSVPM school, Konni, Pathnamthitta, are a tech-savvy lot. The school is all set to launch personal websites for students. Touted as the first ever customised blog for schools, the project ‘Smart Blog’ is implemented in association with Aarthika Technologies, a subsidiary of Rain Concert Knowledge Management Solutions. The blog will act as a platform for sharing knowledge and other relevant information between students, teachers, alumni and members of the management. With the help of the blog, teachers will be able to post information on topics they cover in class, offer further explanations and even post topics which they do not get time to cover in class, said Abhilash R., chief executive officer, Rain Concert. “The medium will enable teachers to post assignments on the website, initiate discussion on topics of contemporary relevance and help children break free from their addiction to- computer games.” According to him computer operations by nearly 95 per cent of the students are limited to playing games alone. The ‘Smart blog’ will give the user a personalised feeling by giving a domain name for each user. Teachers can also have their own pages that provide information and links on various subjects to the students. “The advantage of the medium is that postings on the site can be made from any where including a hotel room, home, café or a school,” he said. “Apart from value addition in education, the blog can be used by the school management for publication of information on school policies, events and programmes,” said Mr. Abhilash. “Blogging helps students to think and write more critically. Through blogs, students will be able to express their thoughts clearly. It also helps to improve their self-confidence,” he said. The postings will also be restricted to users from the school alone.
