PAYYANNUR: A three-day State-level youth gathering will be held in November at Malappuram under the auspices of the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad (KSSP) as part of its effort to inculcate rational thinking and social and gender justice among the youth.A KSSP camp that concluded here on Monday decided to conduct studies to understand how the Governments’ policies reflected in society, a release issued by the KSSP here said adding that these studies were being conducted to get supporting data for analysing the present reality of the State. The release said that there were discussions at the camp on the State’s productive-oriented development, rural-urban development, education, health, environment, land use, watershed management, resource mobilisation, decentralisation, poverty and unemployment. The camp found that women and the youth were victims of commercialisation, the release said adding that a study on how women in the State were thinking would be completed in March 2008. For social change
The camp also decided to organise two State-level campaign jathas to highlight the slogan ‘education for social change.’ Commercialisation of education had posed great threat to the education sector in the State, the camp observed. The camp urged the Government to continue its educational reforms programmes and not to reverse achievements in the sector.
