Allahabad: Curfew in three police station areas of the city would be lifted on Wednesday following improvement in the situation in the wake of violence after alleged desecration of scripture.

The district administration has decided to lift the curfew completely in the three affected police station areas and retain the restrictions in the remaining places only during the night.

Educational institutions across the city, which have been ordered closed since Saturday, will also reopen on Wednesday, District Magistrate Ashish Goyal said.

Janmashtami was celebrated in the city, including in areas of the old city where curfew was relaxed . PTI
