KADAPA: The State Government is committed to ensuring economic empowerment for women, Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy said on Tuesday. Speaking after performing ‘bhoomi pooja’ for 30 ‘Indiramma’ houses in the 11th municipal division here, he said Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was striving to eradicate poverty.
Ration cards, pensions, house sites and houses were being sanctioned to all eligible poor, he said. Houses were sanctioned to 239 poor persons and pension to 361 in the division, he added.
A sum of Rs. 6 crore was sanctioned under Integrated Slum Development Programme for infrastructure development such as roads and drains in the division and works would commence soon, he said. Besides being given loans on ‘pavala vaddi’, women were being imparted training in income-generation activities.
The Mayor exhorted people to keep their surroundings clean to prevent incidence of dengue, malaria and viral fevers.
