VISAKHAPATNAM: The centenary celebration function of Vedula Krishnamurthy, Telugu and Sanskrit scholar and father of noted scholar Vedula Subrahmanya Sastry, was held at Sankara Matham in the city on Tuesday. A book ‘Adbhutharamayanam’ authored by Prof. Sastry was released on the occasion by his teacher and eminent Sanskrit scholar Appalla Someswara Sarma. He was felicitated by Prof. Sastry on the occasion. Writer and film actor Gollapudi Maruthi Rao who was a student of late Krishnamurthy, Prof. K. Malayavasini, Prof. G.V.S. Subrahmanya Sarma and others spoke. Head of the Department of Sanskrit in Andhra University G. Akkubhatla Sarma presided over the centenary celebrations function in which tributes were paid to Krishnamurthy. Dr. D.V. Surya Rao who reviewed the book spoke on the unique aspects of the work.
