BJP activists to march to MPs’ residences

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists will march to the residences of MPs from the State on Thursday to protest against their ‘inability to protect the interests of the State in the Salem Division issue,’ party State secretary M.T. Remesh has said.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Remesh said all the 29 MPs from the State were ‘negligent’ in pursuing the demand of the State in the Salem division issue.

“The Railway Minister had stated that the MPs had reacted positively when the announcement on the Salem division was made in the Parliament on December 12, 2005,” Mr. Remesh said.

He also alleged that the Left and Democratic Front (LDF) Government was continuously misguiding the people of the State on the Salem division issue. “The State Minister in charge of Railways, M. Vijayakumar, argues that there is no need to take serious note of Union Minister of State for Railways R. Velu’s statement that the Salem division would be inaugurated on the scheduled day,” he said.

“This is absurd. As the Minister in charge, Mr. Vijayakumar should have known that all the arrangements were in place for the inauguration of the division. Mr. Velu had clearly stated that all procedures including redeployment of staff were over,” Mr. Remesh said.

‘Mysterious silence’

Mr. Remesh alleged that Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan’s was a ‘mysterious silence’ on the disclosure of the parents of the late Sari about a VIP involved in the Kiliroor sex scandal case. It was Mr. Achuthanandan who had raised the Kiliroor sex scandal as the Leader of the Opposition.

It is disgraceful that he is retaining the VIP involved in the case in the Cabinet, he said.
