Gowda slams Indo-U.S. nuclear deal

Sirsi (Karnataka): Expressing disapproval of the Indo-U.S. nuclear deal, the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda on Tuesday said that if it is operationalised, India would become “a puppet in the hands of America.”

Launching the first phase of the Janata Dal (Secular) campaign in Uttara Kannada for the coming civic polls , Mr. Gowda said that if the Opposition parties had objected strongly to the deal, it would not “have reached this level.”

However, the Left had spoken against the deal while the BJP had remained silent, he said. — PTI
