Pathanamthitta well placed

KOTTAYAM: Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram stole the opening day’s honours in the South Zone inter-district under-22 cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

Pathanamthitta, after scoring 202 in its first innings, reduced Alappuzha to 118 for seven in 35 overs at end of the play on the first day at the Medical College ground.

After Deepak Murali (five for 57) and Jins George (four for 59) restricted Kollam to 199, Thiruvananthapuram was placed comfortably (128 for three) at stumps.

The scores: Pathanamthitta 202 in 52.1 overs (Feroz 92, Vimal Raj five for 45, Sharath four for 26) v Alappuzha 118 for seven in 34 overs (Sandeep 33 no).

Kollam 199 in 57.2 overs (Subin Sulaiman 43, Deepak Murali five for 57, Jins George four for 59) v Thiruvananthapuram 128 for three in 31 overs (Akhil Viswanath 49 no, Madan Mohan 49).
