CUTTACK: The city police on Tuesday arrested three persons and produced them in court on the charge of creating trouble and damaging public property at SCB Medical College and Hospital here. The accused persons were all attendants of a patient from nearby Baranga area on the outskirts of the city who went on the rampage in the Medicine Department of the hospital on Monday evening after the death of the patient, the police said. Doctors on the other hand claimed that D.D. Paital, a 55-year-old man suffering from hypertension and cardiac ailment, was admitted in the hospital on Sunday evening in a critical condition. “The patient was given proper treatment and a junior doctor was constantly monitoring his health. But the patient died while undergoing treatment,” said a professor Laxmidhar Roul while denying the allegation of negligence in treatment. We detained five persons in this connection on Monday night, said inspector D.C. Biswal.
