TIRUNELVELI: The Tirunelveli city police unearthed a racket of “misusing” the premises of an orphanage at Thatchanallur near here on Tuesday.
Based on a tip-off, a special police team raided the premises of the orphanage on Tuesday and confirmed that it was being misused for flesh trade.
The police team arrested four persons, including two sex workers and the organiser of the orphanage, Arockya (35), of Alawanthaankulam, and a youth.
The police team seized some registers, receipt books, three mobile phones and a camera from them.
Eight orphans, including three girls, rescued from the orphanage, were handed over to ‘Saranalayam,’ a home in Tirunelveli that looks after orphaned children and deserted women.
