KURNOOL: Atmakur MLA Erasu Pratap Reddy said a fool-proof system was in place to ensure houses to all eligible families in rural areas under the housing programme. Addressing Indiramma meetings at Boyarevula, Velugodu and Motkur villages on Tuesday, he said there were some lapses in the first phase due to lack of understanding among officials about the scheme. Such mistakes would not recur now, he said. He said officials would visit every household and photograph with the beneficiary and handover the sanction letter only after that. At Motkur, the MLA presented a sanction letter to a woman who complained of non-sanction of a house. Mr. Pratap Reddy presented old-age pensions to 185 people at Motkur, 202 at Boyarevula and 1465 at Velugodu. Mr. Reddy said the previous Government sanctioned 66 per cent of houses to the supporters of their party only 33 per cent to others. However, the Congress sanctioned houses to all irrespective of their political affiliation. In fact, all eligible families got houses now. He said because of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme the wages in villages had gone up. Every family got 100 days work. He said Arogya Sri scheme would be implemented in Kurnool district in two months.
